Contact Center Solution

CLIENT DESCRIPTION

The client is a world leader in unified communications and contact center solutions with a growing presence in emerging markets. After successful support to the local Japan team, the executive team contacted Adept to engage for a mission critical search for the Vice President of Sales for the Asia Pacific Region. The client already had several Asia offices in place with existing business and Country Managers for each location. The newly appointed VP of Sales was to manage the various offices in the region and expand business by leveraging previous experience and contacts within service providers and value added partners.

The client contact was responsible for global development and had deep experience in growing regions for similar businesses and had imposed strict requirements for search in both the experience level of the candidate and the mindset for proper cultural fit. Due to the demanding travel schedule of this client contact, the Adept Consultant in charge of the search had to remain very proactive in contact with this client as well as manage a fairly tricky and ever changing interview schedule for both parties on several continents.

After approximately 3 months into the start of the search, the client due to unseen circumstances, put the search on hold for several months and then reengaged Adept at later time to resume the search. Once completed, the search had taken close to one year since the client originally engaged Adept.

ADEPT SOLUTION

Due to the nature and level of this search Adept had to heavily rely on network of contacts and the ability to source candidates from the proper target areas and approached the search in an active manner contacting mostly passive candidates in the region. Candidates contacted and approached for this role we located in many areas of the world with the successful candidate finally being identified in the Asia Pacific Region. The challenges were many due to the strict requirements of the client and therefore tremendous consultation and negotiation was required on both the client and candidate side to ensure a fit. Adept interviewed and prescreened a pipeline of around 10 candidates for the role, ultimately resulting in a short list of two candidates with the finalist candidate to be determined by a personality test to ensure fit for the company culture.

The offer process was extremely challenging since the offer was made to accommodate the local currency of the candidate resulting in detailed negotiations and calculations for the package including exchange rate adjustments and other executive level benefits. Adept was required to initiate several research projects to determine cost of living in the region and other levels for the client.

CONCLUSION

This search was extremely challenging and demanding given the strict requirements and taxing time required for closure. The role was ultimately filled with a strong candidate who has ever achieved expectations for the client in the region and is continuing to grow the business in the Asia Pacific Region. The client has expressed a high level of appreciation for the patience for this search and for partnering closely to bring a candidate to the role that is such a strong match. Adept holds a strong sense of achievement in this completed search and strongly feels that our active search methodology and ability to partner closely with the client to understand needs truly paid of in this challenging search.
